With Christmas around the corner, I’m shopping around for a new gadget because I’m getting a special Christmas present
Honestly, I’m not as excited about the iPad as I am about the Amazon Kindle. You know how book crazy I am, right? Let’s check out all these cool gadgets:
1. Kindle Touch
Of all the Kindle gadgets, I like the Kindle Touch, Wi-Fi, 6″ E Ink Display (only US$99) the most because I can read my books in peace since the kids will NOT be attracted by the blank ink…
Here are the Kindle Touch’s key features:
- Most-advanced E Ink display, now with multi-touch
- New sleek design – 8% lighter, 11% smaller, holds 3,000 books
- Only e-reader with text-to-speech, audiobooks and mp3 support – I can also listen to music while I read!
- Built in Wi-Fi – Get books in 60 seconds
- Borrow Kindle books from your public library
- Exclusive EasyReach touch technology lets you read easily with one hand
Then again, do I want to see the Special Offers & Sponsored Screensavers? If I don’t, I’ll need to buy the Kindle Touch, Wi-Fi, 6″ E Ink Display (US$139).
2. Kindle Keyboard
Maybe it’s better for me to go for the Kindle Keyboard 3G, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 6″ E Ink Display (US$189).
Improved Display: Reads like real paper; now boasts 16 shades of gray for crisp images and text; even reads well in bright sunlight
Longer Battery Life: 25% longer battery life; read for days without recharging
More Storage: Take your library with you; holds over 1,500 books
Faster Page Turns: 20% faster page turns
Read-to-Me: Text-to-Speech feature means Kindle can read every book, blog, magazine, and newspaper out loud.
- I can still “read” my books while I’m busy cleaning up the house, cooking or even while I’m folding the laundry
No Wireless Bills: No monthly wireless bills, data plans, or commitments. Amazon pays for Kindle’s wireless connectivity so you won’t see a monthly wireless bill.
3. Kindle Fire
Now that they’ve released the Kindle Fire, Full Color 7″ Multi-touch Display, Wi-Fi (US$195-199), mmm, you’ve got MY attention
See how lovely children’s books look on the Kindle Fire? This tablet costs half as much as the iPad:
Check it out:
- Movies, apps, games, music, reading and more, plus Amazon’s revolutionary, cloud-accelerated web browser
- 18 million movies, TV shows, songs, magazines, and books
- Thousands of popular apps and games, including Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, and more
- Ultra-fast web browsing – Amazon Silk
- Free cloud storage for all your Amazon content
- Vibrant color touchscreen with extra-wide viewing angle – same as an iPad
- Fast, powerful dual-core processor
- Favorite children’s books, graphic novels, and magazines in rich color
I really love its compact size, which means that it’s small enough to pop into a tote bag or a handbag – I can just whip it out anytime I wanna do some reading or writing on the bus
However, the Kindle Fire doesn’t use Amazon’s E-ink technology so I wonder if the reading experience will be compromised…
4. Apple iPad
Hubs has been going on and on about the iPad. Ever since its launch, he’s been waxing lyrical about how wonderful it.
According to him, I can read ebooks on it, I can surf the net with it, the kids can play electronic games on it and we can all watch movies or listen to music on it.
In other words, the Apple iPad 2 Tablet (16GB, Wifi,) NEWEST MODEL (US$454) is for EVERYONE.
I’ve been hearing how addicted kids can be to the Angry Birds’ games that I wonder if I want to handle yet another dispute at home -_-
Recently, we went to check out the iPad at an Apple store and wow, I now know why it’s such a super gadget
The iPad is *so* fun and easy to use!!!
You can take photos, watch a movie, read books or newspapers, surf the internet and of course, play games on it. We saw quite a number of parents having a hard time tearing their kids away from the iPad especially when they got started on the Angry Birds and other games…
Hmm…as much as I like the iPad, I don’t like sharing it with anyone!
As it is, I have to share almost everything with everyone in the house, I’d like to keep something to myself. If the Apple iPad’s for you, click here to buy from Amazon.
Ahh…decisions, decisions.
One thing’s for sure. He can have his iPad. I’ll take the Kindle Touch, Wi-Fi, 6″ E Ink Display (US$139) anytime!
