Wish I could help but the book's not with me at the moment. I can't recall if his name was mentioned - I can strongly remember him being referred to as "Kommandant" thoughout the book. If you have the book, check ou the chapters where he's in debate with Bruno's grandmother, with Bruno's Mum and the ugly scene with the Jewish doctor. Shaina – Tough question. And I think somehow the Kommandant is keeping her there to save her from the camps, just like the doctor servant.
